COPYWRITING:

Do you have a lot to say, but you don’t know how to say it? I can help.

I begin by researching your industry. I learn all about the space in which you work, what people are saying about you, and what people are saying about others. After that, we’ll set up a time to talk about how your business fits into that industry. What makes you different? What makes you better? What makes you…you?

After learning about your industry and your part in that industry, I begin writing. We’ll go back and forth on a few drafts until we’re both happy and convinced that every word works to bring the reader one step closer to calling, making a donation, buying your product, or just feeling that much better about your business.

Words tell stories. The right words change stories.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE:

Once your content is written, it needs to be laid out in a way that enables your customers to be brought along on a journey from section to section, learning about you and your business as they go. At the same time, it has to be a logical pattern, where they can quickly jump to what’s of interest. I will look at your content as a whole, and organize it in a way that will enable your customers to find what they’re after. Together, we’ll tell your story in a logical, organized way.

The greatest content in the world isn’t that great if it can’t be found.

STRATEGY + CONSULTING:

Strategy: let’s look at your business from an outsider’s perspective and figure out the best way to achieve your communications goals. What’s the best way to get to your potential customers or donors? What do they know about you, and what should they know? How do we roll out your messaging?

Software Solutioning and Implementation: let me find the software solution that best fits your business needs and budget. From CRM and databases to online tools for ticket or product sales, we will find the right software, help you get it set up for your unique requirements, and even act as your expert to help you maximize the software’s capabilities.

Consulting is the practice of providing a third party with expertise on a matter. The service may involve either advisory or implementation services.

PARTNERSHIPS:

Fearon Communications specializes in helping small businesses and non-profits with their communications needs. While we aim to provide all of the services needed, we also work with a variety of experts in their respective fields. These partnerships are with proven partners who can bring our work to the next level.

It only takes two to tango. Sometimes it takes more than two to bring a vision to life.

A partnership is an association or relationship between two or more individuals, corporations, trusts, or partnerships that join together to carry on a trade or business. Each partner contributes money, labour, property, or skills to the partnership.

CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS:

PR nightmares. Misbehaving employees. Sudden funding needs. Privacy breaches. These are some of the situations where we’ve helped to create a strategy, crafted communications, and managed public perception.

It takes a cool head, a clear thought process, and quick action. Sometimes it takes an outsider to come in, assess the situation, and devise a plan.

Fearon Communications is ready to step into your crisis situation, provide guidance, and help you come out the other side.

WEBSITES:

Fearon Communications specializes in building on-brand, logically-designed, modern websites for small businesses and non-profits. We’ll create an internet presence that builds relationships with your customers and supporters, tells your story, and extends your brand into the online space.

Many of the sites we build are using Squarespace - a popular, modern, user-friendly Content Management System (CMS) and website design platform. This allows you to take over management of the site once it is built, or to leave that work to us. Fearon Communications is a Squarespace Circle Member - meaning that we have built a number of professional sites, and have been recognized by Squarespace for expertise in building sites.

Jay Fearon, Director of Everything.

Jay Fearon has been working in communications since 2008. Working primarily with small businesses and non-profit organizations, Jay is able to bring together the communications strategy and solid technical skills to bring your project to life

Jay Fearon has been working with small businesses and non-profit organizations since he graduated from BCIT’s Marketing Communications program in 2008.

Courtney completed her undergraduate degree in Life Sciences at Queen's University in 2005. She completed her Masters in Speech Sciences from the University of British Columbia in 2008. Since then, Courtney has been working primarily with children with multiple needs in government-funded Child Development Centres.

Courtney lives in Oshawa with her husband, 3 kids, and 2 cats.

Courtney has the creativity, experience, and skills to help children improve their communication and empower their parents to foster learning in a supportive and fun environment.

Despite being named 'Most Likely to Become an American Gladiator' at his graduation, Jay's career has taken a decidedly different path.

Instead of spending long hours in the gym, he spends his time working with clients to fully understand their intended messages and turning those messages into communications pieces that work. Instead of battling fierce competitors, Jay battles mediocre content. Instead of becoming a fitness guru, Jay became a grammar snob. His style—rather than 90s big hair—is to work with clients to maximize their communication results.

Jay brings the big-picture thinking that will move your next project—written, video, design, or something else entirely—from good to great.

Thankfully for everyone involved, Jay doesn’t wear American Gladiators spandex. Not often anyway.

Jay lives in Oshawa, Ontario with his wife, Courtney, and three kids (Sophie, Levi, and Elliott). Oh, and the cats.

He can usually be found cooking something (ideally BBQ or donuts), hanging out on the internet (like a communications-obsessed dork), or driving (or washing) his Volkswagen (aka the Voltswagen, or ‘the other obsession’.)

ABOUT FEARON COMMUNICATIONS

Fearon Communications is a boutique communications agency. When I say ‘boutique,’ I’m not meaning that everything is for sale. (because it’s not), but I’m talking about the experience: it’s a small, individualized experience, where I take the time to really get to know my clients, their businesses, and their goals.

We specialize in helping small businesses and non-profits with their communications needs. We offer strategy consulting as well as the implementation of those strategies.
